The GPS path leads us through the nature reserve "Augustdorf dune field" on the western edge of the municipality of August village in the south of the Teutoburg Forest. The protected area is now mostly covered by pine forest. In the understory of the forest grow rich deposits of blueberries and cranberries.
In a cultural landscape as the Senne show up in many places traces of human history: From the old landmark dating back to 1860, the then marked the border between the Principality of Lippe and Prussia, to the 7-acre sand pit in which to 1975, Senne sand was recovered.
